Yala, a startup focused on Bitcoin-backed stablecoins, has raised $8 million in a seed funding round co-led by Polychain Capital and Ethereal Ventures. The funds will help Yala further develop its stablecoin "YU," which allows users to mint stablecoins by depositing Bitcoin through the MetaMint protocol. This protocol is designed to work cross-chain, supporting both Ethereum-compatible blockchains and non-EVM systems like Solana. The project has attracted over 2,000 Bitcoin in deposits, signaling significant early interest. Yala also plans to offer insurance and yield-earning features as part of its platform.
