Steven Goldfeder, CEO of Offchain Labs, defended Ethereum layer 2 solutions like Arbitrum, rejecting claims that they are "parasitic" to Ethereum. Critics argue that layer 2 networks, which offer cheaper transactions, profit at Ethereum’s expense, especially as Ethereum has lagged behind other cryptocurrencies. Goldfeder countered, explaining that layer 2s add capacity to Ethereum, enabling scalability and long-term growth. He believes that as Ethereum continues to expand, layer 2 networks will eventually become crucial for competing with faster blockchains like Solana.
