India Is Ahead on Crypto Adoption Is It Ready for Whats Next

A new community-led meetup circuit, Ready for the Run (RFTR), has launched across India with a single goal: to understand whether the country's crypto and Web3 ecosystem is actually prepared for what comes next — a bull run, a bear run, or a structural shift driven by AI that changes the market altogether. The circuit rolls out across 10 cities through the remainder of 2026 and into early 2027, replacing the usual panels and keynotes with real debates, live polling, and city-by-city community intelligence that feeds into a community-built Playbook.

The launch comes as India continues to lead the world in grassroots crypto adoption. It ranked #1 on Chainalysis' Global Crypto Adoption Index for the third consecutive edition in 2025, after ranking first in the 2023 and 2024 editions as well. In the latest index, India ranked #1 across the overall index as well as the retail, centralized, DeFi and institutional sub-indices.

At the same time, India's AI story is showing a very different kind of scale. The country is the world's second-largest ChatGPT market, with more than 100 million weekly active users, while ranking 76th out of 118 countries on per-capita AI usage.

The contradiction is the point. Enormous scale does not automatically mean readiness.

"The numbers make the pattern hard to miss," says Shantanu Sharma, creator of Infini3, the platform behind RFTR."We have enormous participation and usage. The question is whether the ecosystem around that participation is actually ready for what comes next."

Also to be noted, is the re-entry of a better-prepared Coinbase into the Indian market, a positive vibrations via Government authorities on the regulatory front about introducing the concept of SROs in the recently tabled The Securities Markets Code, 2025 and discussion around stablecoins & tokenization / RWAs scheduled at the Fintech Summit 2026 in Mumbai.

Ground Reality

Numbers explain the scale of the gap. They do not explain what that gap feels like on the ground, which is where Shantanu spent the better part of three months in conversation with founders, traders, builders and community leads across India's Web3 ecosystem.

On AI:

  • Many of those conversations pointed to a gap between being AI-active and being genuinely AI-ready, using the tools regularly without necessarily understanding what they change over the long term.

  • Another recurring concern was whether AI was making individual contribution more productive, or simply harder to distinguish.

On Web3:

  • A trust deficit built up over years of scam tokens and unregulated platforms, re-earned in every conversation rather than assumed

  • A regulatory environment specific enough to generate real numbers, but ambiguous enough to keep serious capital on the sidelines

  • A community fragmented city to city, with no shared thread connecting one conversation to the next

  • Information asymmetry, with insight concentrated in a small circle rather than circulating through the community that needs it

"None of this is news to anyone who's been paying attention," Shantanu says. "What struck me was how consistently the same gaps kept showing up, regardless of city, exchange or community."

The Problem, Named

Stripped of jargon, those community conversations converged on three specific gaps:

  • Siloed activity: the value generated inside one city's meetup rarely travels beyond the room it happened in, so the same insight gets rediscovered, or missed entirely, city after city

  • No real-time structured community intelligence: market data already exists. What is missing is a reliable, real-time read of where India's communities are actually sitting on sentiment, conviction, capital preferences and emerging narratives

  • Unpreparedness for what's next: the grassroots community driving India's adoption numbers is not necessarily prepared, in time, for whatever comes next, whether that is a bull run, a bear run or an AI-led run that doesn't map neatly onto either

Those three gaps, more than any single data point, are what Ready for the Run is designed to tackle, city by city and conversation by conversation.

The Model

Ready for the Run is built on a simple refusal: no panels, no keynotes, no sponsor-led pitches. In their place, structured debates on subjects the community itself picks, live polling instead of passive listening, and a format built to surface actual sentiment rather than curated talking points.

"India doesn't need another stage with four people talking at an audience," Shantanu says. "What's missing is a room built for signal, not spectacle."

The name is deliberately ambiguous. "The Run" means a bull run, a bear run, or simply whatever comes next. The point isn't to predict it. It's to prepare India's AI and Web3 community for it.

That's what makes Ready for the Run a preparedness circuit, not just an events series.

By the Community, for the Community

That principle extends beyond format into who's actually building the circuit. More than 20 community and ecosystem partners, with a combined reach of over 5,000 members, have committed support to Ready for the Run, spanning crypto, AI, Web3 and city-level communities across India.

Ecosystem allies: OroPocket, KoinX, TechHybr, QuillAudits, Grovio AI, Kryptos, Xtrading, Make0 AI, 39K Group

Two of those, Grovio AI and Make0 AI, are backing the circuit specifically from the AI side - an early signal of how directly the AI-Web3 convergence theme is showing up in who's turning up to support it. There are many other companies as well that have committed to support this initiative.

Community: CryptoMarg, Bhopal DAO, Hyderabad DAO, Web3 Aligarh, Web3 Kerala, Lucknow DAO, Gwalior DAO, Collably Network, Badass Builders Club, Builder Base (Zyphar), Techeve, Techtoken, Builders Verse, , Abhilekh Verma Consultancy and many more lined up.

"This was never meant to be something we built and handed to the community," Shantanu says. "It's being built with them, city by city."

The Circuit

Ready for the Run rolls out across nine confirmed cities, with a tenth closing city still to be announced: Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Ready for the Run rolls out across nine confirmed cities, with a tenth closing city still to be announced: Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Bangalore. Each stop carries its own theme, chosen to reflect that city's particular relationship with capital, community, or trust - Mumbai's conversations lean into capital and conviction, Lucknow's dig into trust, Bhopal sits at the confluence of both AI and Web3 narratives.

Rather than repeating one flat script ten times, the circuit is structured as a chaptered narrative, with each city adding a layer to one continuous read of where India's ecosystem actually stands.

The circuit opened with a closed-door Launch Party in Gurugram on August 22, 2026, setting the tone for the stops that follow - full recaphere, alongside theLaunch Party Community Pulse Snapshot.

What Makes This Different

Every stop closes with what the team calls a Community Pulse Snapshot, a live, city-specific capture of what the community actually thinks, believes and disagrees on, gathered directly from attendees rather than inferred from turnout or applause. The strategy behind the circuit explicitly treats these snapshots as a structured intelligence output, not simply an event recap.

Data collection begins before anyone arrives, too. Registration itself is designed as the first point of participation, with attendees contributing experience, sentiment and market intelligence in the run-up to each event. In other words, the meetup begins before the room opens. The pre-event journey includes surveys, reminders, public polls, community questions and prediction exercises before attendees arrive.

Individually, each snapshot is a city's temperature check. Together, the snapshots become a record of how India's crypto community thinks across cities, themes and market conditions.

Collected across the circuit, they form the backbone of a larger deliverable:  India's AI & Web3.0 Preparedness Playbook, a community-generated roadmap combining the city snapshots with speaker inputs, industry thought leadership and sponsor perspectives, built deliberately by the ecosystem it is meant to serve rather than handed down to it.

That distinction is central to the model. The Playbook is not intended to be another report written in a boardroom. It is meant to document what the community itself believed, debated and learned before the next cycle.

What's Next

Registration is open city by city through Ready for the Run'sLuma calendar, with the circuit continuing through the remainder of 2026 and into early 2027.

Shantanu says partnership conversations, with ecosystem enablers, sponsors and city-level collaborators, remain open throughout the circuit's run, alongside the core partnership already in place with Raajeev Anand, Founder, CryptoMarg and TechHybr, and Mohit Madan, Co-Founder, OroPocket.

Whether the Playbook ultimately changes how India's crypto and AI communities prepare remains to be seen. But for a country that leads the world in adoption on both fronts, Shantanu’s bet behind Ready for the Run is simple: if India's next phase is going to be bigger than the last one, the intelligence needed to navigate it cannot sit in silos. It has to be built together, on the ground and city by city.
