South Korea To Build New Blockchain And AI Campus
A deal has been signed between South Korea’s Suseong University and Korea Artificial Intelligence Association, or KORAIA for establishing a blockchain and AI campus in Daegu.
As per the announcement reported by the local media outlet Money Today, the new university will focus on teaching AI, big data, and cloud-based technology. The students will get the entry in the university from 2021.
The director of the Planning and Coordination Division of the university, Kim Kun-woo has praised the announcement. He believes that the COVID-19 global crisis has led the world in changing to a blockchain and AI-based society.
The announcement also mentions that many Daegu-based blockchain companies are going to integrate to provide training and work experience programs on the campus.
The university will enforce the user-friendly services that can integrate university education and academic administration, hand in hand with experts in each field.
The South Korean government has been positive regarding the development of the country’s blockchain industry.
Back in April, the Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, Koo Yun-cheol stated that the blockchain market represents a “golden opportunity” for South Korea, calling for private sector companies to exploit this potential.
South Korea has been very supportive of the development of the blockchain industry. Two ministries had announced their support for the country’s blockchain industry on March 17. The ministries intend to give $3.2 million in funding to local startups to encourage the use of such technology.
