Man Laundered Crypto And Lambos In New Zealand
A man living in New Zealand was charged for money laundering through the use of cryptocurrency transactions and luxury car purchases.
As per the report by the NZHerald, a man in his 40’s from Auckland, New Zealand, who was granted interim anonymity, faces up to thirty charges related to money laundering. Man has been arrested as part of a major asset seizure operation, including thousands of dollars used to purchase crypto-assets.
The report states that man allegedly laundered money through the purchase of high-end vehicles, including a $421,000 Lamborghini and a $288,888 black Mercedes G63. The report also claims that he used$1.7 million in laundered funds to purchase an East Auckland property.
The document published in the court reveals that the man was given unknown sums of cash for laundering from an individual while at the Auckland Airport earlier in the year. Man has been also charged with obtaining by deception credit amounting to over a million dollars from a bank.
Additionally, the police arrested six other people and seized millions in assets on October 13.
