Americana's New Chip Transforms Anything Into an NFT
Nowadays, NFTs are more than just for verifying ownership of a JPEG on the internet. Last year, Designer Jake Frey established Americana Technologies to let artists and businesses transform physical items like streetwear, collectibles, automobiles, and artwork into NFTs.
Americana Technologies launched NFTA Universal Chip which connects physical items to Blockchain. Frey gave the example of the conventional art sector as a good one. This chip will transform anything into an NFT, allowing you to scan artwork and view its whole online presence and ownership history on your phone.
Blockchain stores information about a physical thing, and it provides a way for the creator or an artist to receive royalties each time the piece is sold.
In the past few months, NFTs have generated millions for digital artists and creators, but according to Frey, they are just a tiny percentage of all creators. Frey stated that the other 99 percent of artists and creators who do not create digitally but rather with tangible objects—were the inspiration for his original concept for Americana. However, he didn’t share any information regarding consumers or artists who utilized his platform.
Americana has raised $6.9 million in initial investment from Seven Six, the venture capital firm of Alexis Ohanian. Thus, Frey is collaborating with Ohanian, who co-founded the social networking site Reddit, due to his track record in fostering online communities and making money from them.
